How to Find Us
Long Acre Plants is signposted in both directions on the B3081 between Charlton Musgrove and the A303.
From the A303 at the Tinkers Hill exit, take the road to Wincanton/Bayford. At the Hunters Lodge take the B3081 to Bruton and Charlton Musgrove, after half a mile you will pass Hillside Farm on your left, the road narrows and slopes down and you go through a dip with a stone house (Whitelodge) on your right. Please indicate right! As you rise out of the dip there is a small lane on the right. The Nursery is 50 yards down this lane. Please park carefully.
From Bruton
Take the B3081 to Wincanton and Gillingham. After about 5 miles as you rise up a hill before you get to the Racecourse, you will see a sign post pointing left to Gillingham, again the B3081. Take this road and drive right through Charlton Musgrove. A series of winding bends and eventually a sign pointing right to Rectory Lane will follow. Don't take this but travel 200 yards further on to a small lane on your left. The Nursery is 50 yards down this lane. Please park carefully.

We are three miles or so from the new Piet Oudolf garden at Hauser & Wirth in Bruton, Somerset. It's a beautiful garden to visit and has its own restaurant. Best to contact them ahead of time to book at table. www.hauserwirthsomerset.com/garden. We also have the National Trust Stourhead Gardens just to the East of us, the most beautiful landscape garden at any time of the year.

Meconopsis cambrica

Welsh poppies, should possibly be a true poppy or indeed the only true meconopsis. They will seed around and naturalise in shaded beds and always look refreshingly lovely. Maybe not for the tidiest of gardeners but suited to a more, how shall I say, informal and naturalistic approach! Mainly orange but you may get a yellow or red (Frances Perry).

We are pleased to be able to offer these fabulous hybrids bred by Robin White of Blackthorn Nursery, essentially they are crosses between Brown Peacock, with it's purple flushed foliage and Red Gurka with scarlet flowers and red stems. They combine the best of both with purple foliage and large reddish flowers. They emerge in June, flowering August through to September, they are fully hardy and easy to grow in a semi shaded or if moist full sun situation.

A very useful groundcover for tough, dry shady conditions.

A mythical thug for a shady spot where it can spread and display its fragrant white flowers in Spring. Will tolerate dry soils. It was used most effectively as ground cover in a small, shady courtyard show garden at Chelsea 2012, and can be seen in the walled garden at NT Mottisfont forming a wonderful ground cover under a fig tree.
{Cultivation}
Galium will spread quite vigorously, but it is a plant that will survive the toughest of dry shady conditions.
