A spreading species with chunky rhizomes. Large green rounded to heart shaped leaves in the growing season, dormant over winter.. Has proved very hardy and easy in a woodland garden, a great addition to a hardy tropical looking space. Pink flower to 4cm under the foliage in late Summer.

These tuberous begonias are very hardy and easy in the semi shaded parts of the garden. To 40cm tall they have pink flowers in September and October and are dormant over winter, emerging in early May. They contibute foliage over most of the growing season and flowers when 'little else is a doing' should we say. Suprisingly tolerant of dry soils. Red undies refers to the underneath of the corrugated green leaves which are red.
